ENGLISH LANGUAGE: AN EDGE TOWARDS PROFESSIONAL GROWTH

-

ROSE ANN M. ANICIETE

English being claimed as the international language has definitely a big impact in the improvement of a teacher. It has a huge value on his professional growth. The fact that every professional now must be globally competitive, each teacher should equip himself with all the necessary tools that could help him grow. One of these tools is his ability to communicate. Though, Mother Tongue has been included in the K 12 curriculum for the student beginners, still, a teacher needs to make a lot of reports and other works that require him to use the English as the medium of communication.

Nowadays, many profess that they are having a hard time using this language most especially if this is not their area of specialization. However, if we will only be guided by the saying “Practice makes perfect” then there is no reason why a teacher will not improve in using this very important language. At the beginning, definitely it will be hard, however, if we try to overcome the fear or hesitation that hinders our development then it might be much easier.

There is no such difficult thing for those who really want to learn. Determination and patience play the big roles here. In the field of education, engaging with different processes like sending / responding to messages/ information sent; being abreast with this language can be a great edge. As Filipinos, we are known as one of the best English speakers in the whole world and this proves that we can really compete with other nationalities most especially in communication. Being fluent in using English can lead us all to our professional success.
