Young artists from Patlang Art Group and other participants performed their own Kapampangan poem pieces during the event.
Patlang Art Group is a non-profit organization and a group of artists based in San Fernando that lets people embrace Kapampangan culture through the use of their talents in poetry and arts.
Patlang Art Group Co-Founder Jap Devero said that poetry is not all about “hugot” but is the art that makes every artist bring out passion, creativity, and emotions.
“I want to make people look at poetry in a different way, because as far as I know, poetry can contribute to our society, especially in the culture side of everything. Artists can also get benefits from it since their artworks will be recognized by the public,” Devero said.
Councilor Harvey Quiwa said that the event will encourage people to continue using the Kapampangan mother tongue. “The poems made by the young poets express how they are feeling while through their pieces. I am also glad that they used the Kapampangan language,” Quiwa said. The poetry exhibit is a week-long feature of youth artists’artworks who submitted their creations to the Patlang Art Group.
