ADVANTAGES OF REMEDIAL CLASSES

-

MARY ANN D. YUMUL

Why there is a need for a learner to be given a remediation class?

Is this method or approach really effective on the students’performance? Remediation is given to student/ learner who didn’t meet the expectations or didn’t gain learning, rather who didn’t able to meet the basic requirements, due to habitual tardiness, or wasn’t able to submit basic requirements. The objective of remedial activity is for the students to catch up with the lesson or lessons being taught.

As this statement was quoted from a student, “My teacher may have been a bitch sometimes, but she never gave up on me and I’m happy about that.” The definition of teacher taken from Urban Dictionary is a person who cares enough about abusive and ungrateful teens to work for crappy pay and long hours while hoping someday students mature enough to realize how lucky they are to have someone who gives a shit about them.

The significance of giving remediation class to learners who didn’t meet the expected output is we do not limit the capacity of the learners though on the part of the teacher it is really a burden for they will exert extra effort and time in preparing the materials needed for the remediation activity. The willingness on the part of the teacher is to help the learner cope up with the lessons being taught to them. To assist the learners, achieve the expected learning competencies for them to move to higher level of learning. Remediation activity is giving students the opportunity to learn.
