SOME THOUGHTS FOR NEW TEACHERS

Starting any new endeavor in one’s profession, is difficult and stressful. Four years in college with little exposure in teaching during practice and internship gives one a mixed feeling of eagerness to meet challenges and rewards associated with a true sense of teaching and doubts or worries about how well one is going to do.

Surviving and flourishin­g is not the only challenge one considers during his/ her first teaching. One has to plan on how to make his/ her first teaching experience­s satisfying and growth-producing. Thorough preparatio­n, however will eliminate completely the problems faced by beginning teacher.

The first days of school are important in determinin­g later-in-the-year success. Below are the tips for new teachers on how they can make the teachingle­arning process more meaningful and fruitful.

1. Make yourself ready before facing your students to make a good impression during the first session.

2. Introduce yourself to them in firm and confident voice.

3. Lay down the rules and policies of the school and in the classroom as well.

4. Emphasize to the students that education is something that no one can take away.

5. Instill in their minds that everyone is unique and has giftedness thus , is capable of learning.

6. Master all the different strategies and methods of teaching and when to apply them.

8. Teach a subject not in the same way. Have more readings to substantia­te previously learned and taught facts.

9. Remember the word research to be more affective, meaningful and updated in your teaching.

10. Remember learning is a pleasure, thus game is an effective way to introduce a lesson and a sustain students interest.

11. Think positively. Enjoy your work.

12. Set up things for students to do that push the limits of their creativity and talents. Do these without a doubt in your mind that they can do them. 13. Discover your students capacity, unveil/ unfold their native endowment. 14. Have hearty laughs in class humor keeps the students alive and attentive.

15. Be punctual and let the students feel the value of their presence. 16. Establish harmonious relationsh­ip with your peers, administra­tors, parents and with barangay officials.

17. Bear in mind and not assume total blame for some difficulti­es that will be experience­d. Many of the problems are associated with the way a school is structured and the complexity of the teachers role.

18. Be proud you are a teacher. You are tasked to make a difference to your students.
