YOUTH’S MORAL VALUES IN THE CHANGING ENVIRONMENT

Obviously, today’s moral values of the youth are far different from yesteryears. The worsening of good manners and right conduct are eroding our Filipino custom. Every day youth are exposed to violence, dishonesty, and other social problems in the media and the real world. Teens are so dependent on social media and sites like Facebook and youtube, among others. They are influenced by the new technology and becoming wild and no respect among elders.

The world we live in today is in a rapid change, technology tends to mislead the youth with what they see and heard from social media that seems to ruin the moral values among teenagers and it is alarming. Thus, instilling our traditional values is never too late. We need to work hand on hand to instill the importance of good moral values among the generation today and the next generation.

Parents play an important role in teaching, guiding their children. They are the role model of their children and should be more concern about their children’s activities and who’s their friends. They should spend more time and attention to their children this may decrease the social problem. Parents should take an action right now by taking care of their children with care and disciplines.

A teacher has also a great role by means of inculcating the importance of moral values that can help them discover and develop into a better person. The society also plays a huge role in shaping the values among the youth by setting a good example. If the society pays good tribute on the welfare of the future generation, the future of our world will be better.
