EDUCATION AND CULTURE: THEIR INFLUENCE ON HUMAN SOCIETY

Education is a tool in acquiring systematic knowledge, ideas, and skills. This refers to the enlightening experience where learners enrolled in an institution to achieve a complete degree or course. Education plays a vital role towards the holistic development of every individual.
Culture involves practices and behaviour from the ancestors or grandparents. It refers to the customary beliefs, characteristics or traits usually present in the human societies. Moreover, culture is considered adopted knowledge from the family, community, and school. The way of life, attitude and individual’s outlook in life is also called culture. Culture influences the personality development of each individual. It also affects the career choice of the learners.
Education has a great impact on cultural development. It is belief that education is a process where culture transmits from one generation to another. In addition, education is an instrument of cultural change. Knowledge, training, and skills can be acquired through education. The relationship of education and culture focus on the main objective of education which is to impart to the minds of young learners the cultural and social heritage. Another function of education is to provide the needed and desirable change in the cultural ideals and values for the achievement of progress and development of the human society.
Every individual is born with a particular culture. This can give him with specific behavioural patterns that will lead him in different walks of life. Furthermore, education plays an important role in one’s life. Both education and culture cannot be separated. Thus, education and culture really affects the improvement of every individual in all aspects of life.
