- BY NICOLE RENEE DAVID Sun.Star Staff Reporter

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - Families of some Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) from different barangays here recently joined financial literacy training at Heroes Hall here.

The event was organized by the city government of San Fernando and Women’s Executive Committee together with the City Employment Services Division, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and Pru Life U.K.

OWWA Regional Office 3 (RO-3) Labor Communication Officer Megan Claire David explained that the event is aimed to teach families on how to handle financial cases while their loved ones are working abroad.

“Even though how many times a person would go to trainings such as this, he or she must do what he or she has learned on these trainings he or she went to, so that they could put into action the lectures they’ve learned into their own finances and manage their own personal or family funds,” David said.

Olivia Coloma, Pru Life U.K. Magnetite Baguio Branch Area Manager, discussed their organization’s background, saving processes, insurance, financial planning, and barriers (things wherein people spend their money to). “We really need to do smart financial planning so that we can achieve our goals and give a bright future to ourselves and to our beloved families,” Coloma said.

The participants came from barangays San Jose, Bulaon, Calulut, Magliman, Saguin, Sindalan, Del Pilar, Dolores, Malpitic, Quebiawan, San Felipe, Pulung Bulu, and Delapaz Norte.
