ABS-CBN welcomes Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez

But only a handful knows the reason why Regine transferred to the kapamilya network.

Cacai VelasquezMitra cleared the issue on why they had to move to ABS-CBN.

Aside from being Regine's sister, Cacai also serves as her ate's business manager.

“Matagal, kasi ang tagal naming nag-decide, e. So, nagpaalam muna kami bago ako nag-mediation [sa ABS-CBN], e.”

As Regine's manager, Cacai was present during the signing of Regine's contract at the Dolphy theater, followed by a grand media conference.

“Mga two months or three months ago? Mga ganun. Matagal, medyo matagal-tagal. Actually, yung network contract [sa GMA-7] ended talaga end of January. Medyo matagal na. But meron syang existing contract, ano lang, show contract with Sarap Diva that ended ng mga June. That’s the only time I negotiated [with ABS-CBN]."

"Sarap Diva" is a celebrity cooking talk show were Regine is the main host.

“Show contract yun. But still, alam mo naman ang mga show contract, meron pa ring exclusivity yun, e, di ba? So, parang pina-pass lang. Saka hindi rin siya... kasi ilang beses ring nagtsichange yung isip [ni Regine]. It was a difficult decision, di ba?” pagtukoy ni Cacai sa pagkalas nila sa GMA7.

“So, nung na-decide na niya, that’s the only time na nagmeeting kami. So, long process pa rin naman yun, e. Siyempre kapag may meeting, nagpipresent. The other side presented, ganun.”

Cacai mentioned that talent fee nor their contract price has something to do with their transfer.

“Nothing to do with the TF [talent fee] anymore... eto yung decision niya na nothing to with the TF anymore.”

However, she admitted that the talent fee was considered before.

“It was a factor before but ang talaga sa kanya is to work with other artists, yun talaga.”

Also, Cacai made mention that Regine wanted to work with other artists while she's still active in the industry.

“Dun talaga kami na-limit kasi, e. Kunwari yung pag soap, sinong puwedeng i-partner? Yung ganun ba? In terms of project, nalilimit din.

You’re limited to the characters also kasi yung leading man, medyo kapos,” she stressed.
