Why do we need changes? Do we really need it? How can we change?

Changes happen every single day, minute and second. We experienced it in School, Offices, Media, and even at Home. But are we ready for this?

Way back years ago when the k12 curriculum was not implemented, the old program taught us so many learning and knowledge. Before, teachers uses traditional way of Teaching that is with the used of chalk and blackboard. No computers, laptops, televisions and projectors. Did we learn? The answer is very much. But why do we need to adopt k12 program despite of many issues and problems that they need to consider?

Different countries already implemented the k12 program as their curriculum in schools. Philippines was left behind compared to other countries in Asia even in other parts of the world. Filipino teachers are not being recognized in other countries due to their credentials and the same time was discriminated as the kind of education they have. Nonetheless, they are only accepted and treated as domestic helpers.

Since the adaptation of this, many people specifically parents, students and some teachers got alarmed for so many reasons. One of these is the lack of the materials to be used. Classrooms are not enough to accommodate the growing numbers of students. In addition to this, skilled teachers are insufficient so there is need to hire in the Secondary Schools. For so many reasons, the last question that needs to answer is “Are we still surviving to these changes?

K12 has been implemented in the Elementary and Secondary Levels. The curriculum was already used in the teaching and learning process. School personnel’s are now very much aware, familiar and get used to this new k12 program set by the Department of Education. Regardless of inadequate materials, still we find sufficient solutions that will supplement the scarcity brought by these changes.
