BI-CYCLE OF LEARNING
MARITES C. LUCIANO
One morning while I was walking on my way going to school, I have seen some school children riding on their bicycles as they race themselves to beat the ringing bell before the gate was about to be closed and start of the first class. I was walking then, suddenly realizing that why should I not buy a bicycle and ride it on my way to school and going back home.
The increasing number of cars on streets produced various problems affecting our environment. These children who ride on their bicycle have this thinking that in order for them not to be late in school, they must have ride on a bike. Unconsciously, they have been a good example of people who care about the environment. Cars and lots of vehicles emits fumes that are harmful to the environment. These harmful chemicals pollute the air and contribute to the increasing and worsening global warming and dramatic climate change. Bicycle enables the individual to do some exercise. Thus, make cycling healthier for individuals suffering from hypertension, obesity and other cardio-vascular pr obl em s.
These children see the relevance of cycling as their way of taking good care of the environment. Countries like Paris, China and European countries saw the potentials of cycling to address problems on air pollution, health problems and traffic jams among their citizens. Biking schemes were proposed which constitutes the provision of bike lanes and bike sharing. Bike sharing is done electronically. People can make use of bikes which are not owned by them. They can use it and just simply return it to the next bike station. Pretty awesome because no one needs to buy and expensive one. They are being charged 1 Euro or 1 RMB for a one ride.
Why not in our country? I am thinking that these students have an effective Science teacher. In their own simple ways, they were able to apply what they have learned. Taking care of their health through exercise while taking care of the environment by not emitting any form of harmful chemicals are just some of the benefits of biking.— oOo—
