Bataan to hold forum on PWD benefits law

BALANGA CITY, Bataan — The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) here will be holding a Stakeholders Forum on Republic Act 10754 or an Act Expanding the Benefits and Privileges of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) this October 30.

During the recent meeting of the Provincial Council on Disability Affairs, PSWDO Head Marilyn Tigas said the activity will feature speakers who will discuss various rights and benefits of PWDs.

“This activity is one of our advocacies to raise awareness on the rights and benefits of our PWDs so they know what to expect when they engage in the community,” Tigas furthered.

The council will invite representatives from the Bureau of Internal Revenue, drug stores, supermarkets, transport agencies, and other concerned local establishments.

“PWDs should be aware that they have privileges that they should receive from the community and they have the right to fight and demand for those privileges,” Tigas added.

Among benefits and privileges stated under the RA 10754 include special discounts in buying basic needs and prime commodities, priority in public transportation and parking spaces, and express lanes in all government and commercial establ i sh m en t s.
