NFA sells cheap rice in Masantol town
MASANTOL - The National Food Authority (NFA), through its Diskwento Rice Caravan program, sold cheap rice to residents of this coastal town to subsidize families affected by the inflation of basic necessities yesterday.
NFA-Pampanga Provincial Director Rafael Marasigan and Mayor Danilo S. Guintu led the sale of some 1,000 kilos of ‘affordable but quality’rice priced at P27.00 per kilo to indigent Masantoleño families.
Prior to this, the NFA sold 1,000 kilos of rice also priced at P27.00 per kilo to the residents.
Guintu said that each resident-beneficiaries were entitled to but up
to five kilos of rice per family to ensure that supplies can accommodate more needy residents of this town.
He added that residents who can barely afford a kilo of rice, were prioritized during the program.
“Although we understand that most are whining about the high prices of products today due to inflation rate, Masantoleños who can somehow afford understood and gave way to our kabalens who in need more of this assistance,” he said.
Guintu expressed his gratitude to the NFA for extending their program in Masantol town which helped the people here especially that their town is still recovering from the effects of flooding.
“NFA’s assistance is very much needed in this times when prices of basic commodities are also affected by inflation. We express our deepest gratitude to NFA and PD Marasigan for choosing Masantol not only once but twice for their Diskwento Caravan program,” he said.
