-

Math, was it one of your favorite subjects in school or one that you were afraid of? Whether you liked this subject or not, it is one that we can not seem to forget since we use it in our daily lives. It seems that the trend of students failing in this subject continues to be constant throughout time. Unlike other subjects, proper placement of symbols and numbers are needed in order to answer math questions correctly. There are many possible reasons why students continue to fail in this subject. In addition, there are also possible ways in which students, parents and teachers can work on together in order for students to succeed in math and in school.

The number one reason why students usually fail in math is because of their fear for this subject. Before even taking up this subject, their peers have told them about their own experiences and failing in math. This then causes students to fear the subject. Furthermore, students’lack of self confidence is also a factor for failing this subject. A student who has low self confidence will envy those students who are doing good in math and end up failing even more. On the other hand, it may not be the students’fault why they fail this subject. Teachers may also be a factor to as to why they fail. Some teachers do not have the proper training or knowledge about this subject and end up poorly teaching the subject to the students. In addition, there might not be enough proper guidance at home. Parents may not have enough knowledge about the subject to help their children with their math assignments. Lastly, the school environment may also be a factor. There may be too many students in one class which leads to lack of focus for both the students and teachers. There are more possible reasons why many students fail in math but these are just a few to mention. Students will not fail in math if they have the proper guidance from their parents, teachers and school faculty. Students must also help themselves in order to succeed not just in math but to succeed in school in general.
