Edward Barber and Maymay Entrata share the secret to their real life kilig

After their pictorial for their first Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry Fantastica which also stars Vice Ganda, Edward Barber and Maymay Entrata said they are excited about their newest roles. “Ako yung kapatid ni ate Vice Ganda so yun lang ang puwede ko sabihin. Sigurado ako matutuwa kayo. Si direk Barry (Gonzales) yung direktor namin, nagbibigay siya ng freedom. Halos lahat ng eksena spontaneous. Yung script parang guide lang. Pero yung mga jokes, yung kilig, lahat parang on-the-spot lahat. So we had a lot of freedom to be who we are or who the characters are,” Edward shared.

Maymay said she and Edward already agreed to never force each other to do anything unnatural. That’s why she thinks their “kilig” always comes from some place real. “Kasi may binibigay sa amin na script tapos nasa amin na yun kung paano namin lalaruin. Bale hindi naman kailangan paghandaan talaga na kailangan ganito gagawin mo, hindi ganun. Parang kusa lang siyang lumalabas para mas maging natural,” she explained.

As one of the most successful love teams in the country, MayWard believes in always keeping things real. “Dati pa namin sinasabi ito na magpakataotoo ka lang tapos hindi mo kailangan i-push yung sarili mo para magpakilig. Parang natural na lang lalabas yun eh. Hindi mo kailangan ipilit yung sarili mo para maging iba ka sa iba. Maging ikaw lang din tapos lalabas lang din yung magic dun,” she said. Edward said they don’t ever want to try too hard to stand out together. “If you’re already who you are then you’re already different from everyone else,” he added.
