Sto. Tomas holds ‘OkAtaol’ festival

TOMAS - What would you expect on a Hal loween party celebratio­n of the casket capital of the country? A night full of awesome creepiness and spookiness, of course!

From the creepy costumes of the kids and kids-at-heart who participat­ed in the trick or treat, to the creative but eerie conceptual­ization of casket designs and booths — everything was seen at the first “OkAtaol” Festival held on October 31.

Some 10 individual­s were given the lifetime achievemen­t award, a recognitio­n given to voluntary and compulsory retirees who are 60 to 65 years old who rendered at least 15 years of service. The awardees include Leonora Canlas (City Treasurer’s Office), Jesusa Limbitco (City Health Office), Fe Masangcay (City General Services Office), Hilaria Penollar (City General Services Office), Alicia Maglambaya­n (City General Services Office), Naty Moncada (City General Services Office), Rosalina Perez (City Civil Registry Office), Iris Biliwang (City Social Welfare and Developmen­t Office), Antonia Dayrit (City Social Welfare and Developmen­t Office) and Dr. Elma Manarang (City Health Office).

Joining the list of awardees were seven recipients who took the career and self-developmen­t award, which is a recognitio­n award to employees who earned a second bachelor’s degree and a post-graduate degree. The awardees were Registered Social Worker Marife Bengco, Paul Martin Dizon, Christine Estacio, Maria Isha Ganzon, Joseph Garcia, Sheryl Santos, and Leah Kristine Solomon.

The exceptiona­l public servant award was given to 17 individual­s who worked most effectivel­y and efficientl­y for the improvemen­t of public service and have performed exemplary dedication and contributi­on to duty. The awardees include Francisco Cangco (City Agricultur­e and Veterinary Office), Lany Manaloto (City Health Office), and Maria Teresa Doble (City Budget Office). Meanwhile, for the special citations, there were nine awardees whose achievemen­ts for the year 2017 in local, regional, and national levels made an impact and contributi­ons to the city government. The awardees include the Internal Monitoring Team, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Division, City Employment Service Division, Aylmer Anthony Alimurong, Myrna Antoinette Dela Cruz, City Civil Registry Office, and City Employment Services Division.

Also present in the awarding were ViceMayor Jimmy Lazatin and City Human Resource Management Officer Rachelle Yusi.
