Police backtracki­ng vehicle in Angeles road rage case

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO— Police Regional Office III Director PCSupt. Amador V. Corpus yesterday disclosed that the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigat­ion and Detection Unit and the Highway Patrol Unit III are currently backtracki­ng all vehicles with protocol plate No. 8 after the road rage incident along MacArthur Highway in Balibago, Angeles City early morning of November 11, 2018.

Corpus, in his official statement to SunStar Pampanga, said that the incident in front of Dainty Restaurant at about 1:30 am last Sunday, involved the suspect on board an FJ Cruiser with protocol No. 8 and the victim driving a Toyota sedan.

“The suspect who was on board an FJ cruiser with protocol plate No.8 went out of his vehicle and punched the victim several times who was on board his Toyota sedan claiming that the latter allegedly overtook him abruptly,” Corpus said in his statement.

He said that police authoritie­s have initially interviewe­d the victim and a follow up investigat­ion is now being conducted for the possible identity of the suspect.

Corpus added that local government units as well as concerned political figures have expressed their willingnes­s to support the police in identifyin­g the driver of the vehicle while authoritie­s are currently backtracki­ng all vehicles with protocol plate No. 8 which are commonly assigned to House representa­tives.

“Time and again, we appeal to the public that if you have any informatio­n that will lead to the identifica­tion of the driver, do not hesitate to come forward and please report to the nearest station or through PNP hotline 0998598533­0/ 0917623570­0,” Corpus said.— JTD
