POC asks for support of Filipinos in 2019 SEA Games hosting

ANGELES CITY – The Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) asks for the support of all Filipinos as the country hosts the 30thSouthe­ast Asian Games (SEA Games) in 2019.

“I invite every Filipino to join us in ushering in a new era not just for Philippine Sports but for the Philippine­s. Let us support our athletes, our officials and our country,” POC President Ricky Vargas said during the recent One-Year Countdown for SEA Games 2019 held at Bayanihan Park.

“As we countdown the days of the 30th SEA Games, we remain steadfast in our dream for Gold because as Filipinos we have always been up for a challenge. We love it and we relish it,” Vargas added.

Resilience to overcome adversitie­s has become the hallmark not just of Filipino athletes but of every Filipino.

“We have shed blood, sweat, and tears and endured the hardships together and ultimately we won together,” Vargas emphasized.

“I am confident as we work together, the 30th SEA Games will be one that our neighbors will remember,” he stated.

The 30th SEA Games will be held from November 30December 11, 2019. A total of 9,840 athletes from 11 countries will compete in 529 events of 56 sports. There are 47 venues in 3 competitio­n hubs namely Clark, Subic and Metro Manila.

It carries the theme “We Win as One” which encapsulat­es unity, togetherne­ss, and singularit­y of purpose and the desire to work together in a diverse community to achieve peace, progress and inclusivit­y.
