THE IMPORTANCE OF CONTINUOUS PROFESSIONAL GROWTH FOR TEACHERS

In an ever-changing world where high standards were set and demanded by all, the importance of keeping one’s skills and knowledge relevant and up to date is considered a responsibility. In order to enable teachers to dive right in to the rushing stream of competition with much confidence, continuing professional growth has stepped right in to the scene.
One area with a special need for a highly skilled work force is the Department of Education. Teachers need to keep themselves abreast with the latest strategies and methodologies as well as the skills and mastery of the subject matter they are teaching, to ensure that they can perform their duties and responsibility with excellence.
Continuous professional growth promises the rise of a new and improved generation of 21st century instructors. One should proactively take action towards meeting expectations in their career by attending seminars and trainings, equipping themselves with ICT skills and pursuing post graduate degr ees.
There is an undeniably relative significance between highly motivated individuals and the quality of work they produce. Thus, the success of the school lies within its teachers’achievements. Hence the Department of Education also needs to support the professional growth of teachers who constantly have to up-skill and re-skill in a rapidly increasing in the in complexity processes of teaching and learning. All parties involved should work hand in hand to attain the goal. Indeed, it takes an entire village to raise a child. And this child is unlike any other. This child represents the youth which gets the most benefits from well- trained and motivated teacher.
A globally competitive teacher acts a fertile soil that in the future will grow beautiful crops for the nation someday. Therefore, the students are the byproducts and recipients of the change brought about by efficient, effective and competent teachers. The teachers’dedication to their vocation as life-long commitment to learning is its foundation.
