TEACHERS’ ETERNAL GIFTS

December is the most awaited month among Filipinos and in almost all people n the world. It is known as the yuletide season. It is the season not only to be jolly but also the season of love, sharing, and giving. If there are people who really reflects and apply in their life the spirit of sharing and giving not only during this month but all year round, these are the humble and noble teachers.

Teaching as what they say is the “mother of other professions”. We commend teachers for the reason that there can never be doctors, engineers, accountants, and other professionals who was not mentored and trained by teachers.

From the time our parents send us to preparatory or kindergarten school which served as the foundation of our education, up to the time we already fulfilled and earned our bachelors degree in college, we were guided by these noble educators.

Teachers’dedications when it comes to their profession are something that cannot be equaled with just monetary reward. Staying up late at night preparing instructional materials, surfing and downloading music and video clip for motivations they will use for their lessons, working beyond their time doing home visitations to students who are struggling are just some tireless efforts of a teacher.

Teachers even give their most precious time to students who are having burdens and struggles in their family while teachers are forgetting most of their time having conversations and being with their own family. They managed to bond with their students after their class hours while forgetting their bond with their closest friends. Teachers are focused on how to fix their students lives while forgetting that they do have a life to fix as well. All these and more are things teachers do because they love what they are doing. They love, share, and give not only in almost every day of their lives.

“Both learning and the thirst for learning are the eternal gifts teachers give to one of their students. These gifts are possessions a student never loses, and which benefit them for life.” This simple message from a blog by global digital citizen foundation only proves how teachers serve as the guiding light in the life of a student. How they share priceless gifts of knowledge, wisdom, inspiration, and character help shape the lives of these students and helping them to win the battles in their lives.

May these little but special gifts of inspiration and learning from our teachers bloom into our hearts and reflects into our lives. Let these gifts be shared also to others not only this season but in all the seasons.
