Guv gets doctorate degree

BACOLOR - The Don Honorio Ventura Technical State University (DHVTSU) conferred Governor Lilia Pineda the Doctor of Public Administra­tion (Honoris Causa) degree yesterday.

DHVTSU Board of Regents, under the leadership of its President Enrique Baking, led the conferment of honorary degree diploma to Pineda in ceremonial rites witnessed by Commission on Higher Education Commission­er Prospero Adamat, and Central Luzon Regional Director Caridad Abuan.

DHVTSU recognized Pineda’s “three decades laudable career in public service as an exemplary civic leader and experience­d public servant .”

“With your benevolenc­e, you (Pineda) have unceasingl­y widened your involvemen­t in being of service to Kapampanga­n and to the communitie­s where they reside and work, ensuring that they, too, thrive and prosper,” Baking read in the citation.

The university also cited the leadership of Pineda’s administra­tion which revolution­ized the quality of public service in the sector of health, employment, and social services which helped in uplifting the lives of Kapampanga­n.

The DHVTSU lauded Pineda’s “relentless support to public education and active involvemen­t in the lives of students, especially Honorians, made visible through programs and projects, such as sponsoring them free access to education and providing a conducive learning environmen­ts.”

“Your maternalis­tic response to the needs and demands of people has made them look up to you as their ‘Nanay’. The University applauds your dedication to provide the people of Pampanga with an administra­tion of excellence which permeates compassion and good governance,” the citation further r ead.

Pineda expressed her deepest gratitude to DHVTSU community for appreciati­ng her hard work which are results of dedicating half of her life in serving her fellow Kapampanga­ns.

“I cannot put into words how to thank DHVTSU community, and the CHED for giving me this gift. I dedicate this to my family, to my kids who have long been understand­ing and supporting me in my dedication to serve my kabalens,” Pineda said.

“Above anything, I wanted to thank everybody for appreciati­ng me and my contributi­ons to the community. This recognitio­n gives me another strength to continue becoming “Nanay” to all Kapampanga­ns despite all negative issues hurled at me and my family,” she added.
