1,502 scavengers get P1.5M cash, food packs
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - At least 1,502 scavengers received recently a total of P1.5-million cash or P 1,000 each and food packs during the “Aldo Ning Mangangalakal” or “Scavengers’Day” at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center here.
Dubbed as “Ayusan ing basura, ampo ing kapaligiran,” the “Aldo Ning Mangangalakal” is part of the week-long activities of the 447th Aldo Ning Kapampangan intended to acknowledge the hard work of every scavenger in the province.
Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda led the distribution, together with Vice- Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, Third District Board Member Rosve Henson and Provincial Treasurer’s Office staff.
The beneficiaries were composed of 95 scavengers from the first district while 581 hailed from the second district, 337 came from the third district and 489 from the fourth district.
In a brief speech, Vice-Governor Pineda reiterated the important role played by the scavengers in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness throughout the province.
For her part, Governor Pineda encouraged the scavengers to continue striving for their future adding that the provincial government will continue to support less fortunate kabalens through various assistance programs.
Meanwhile, the scavengers expressed their gratitude to the lady governor for her efforts in leading the province in a compassionate w ay.
