Cops arrest man charged with 193 counts of rape
AUTHORITIES arrested last Saturday a man tagged as “incestuous rapist” who has been charged with 193 counts of rape.
Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) director Chief Superintendent Amador Corpus identified the suspect as Anthony De Roma, 36, married, a resident of Daet Camarines Norte.
De Roma, who was arrested in Angeles City, Pampanga, has a standing arrest warrant issued by Judge Evan Dizon of the Camarines Norte Regional Trial Court for 193 counts of rape. No bail was recommended. Among the suspect’s victims is his 17-year-old daughter whom he allegedly raped multiple times.
The victim was referred to the local social welfare development office for psychosocial intervention.
Corpus said a confidential informant had asked for assistance from the CIDG in Camarines Norte.
“A confidential informant asked the assistance of Camarines Norte CIDG PFU for the possible arrest of the accused since he had gone into hiding for the last two years,” said Corpus.
“After CIDG detectives validated the information and able to secure a copy of his arrest warrant the information was shared to different CIDG units nationwide and continuous operational research was done to ascertain the whereabouts of the accused. Until a witness known to the suspect tipped our detectives that he is in Angeles City, Pampanga,” he added. (Third Anne Peralta-Malonzo/SunStar Philippines)
