NCRPO’s enhanced security coverage includes malls, tourist spots

- (PNA)

After ensuring the safety of the public during the Holy Week celebrations, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has enhanced its security coverage to include tourist destinations, malls and shopping centers in Metro Manila.

NCRPO director, Major Gen. Guillermo Eleazar said the redeployment of the bulk of their personnel is to make sure tourists and the public in general will not be victimized by criminals this summer season.

“With the end of the Holy Week break, we are expecting many tourists coming in to Metro Manila, especially to shopping malls and other places that’s why we shall introduce the enhanced security coverage, including the deployment of additional policemen,” Eleazar told the Philippine News Agency.

Eleazar, however, assured the redeployment will not affect the security posture in different areas of convergence such as bus terminals, seaports and airports as thousands of commuters are expected to return to Metro Manila after spending their Lenten break in the provinces.

He directed the Manila Police District (MPD), Quezon City Police District (QCPD), Northern Police District (NPD), Southern Police District (SPD), and Eastern Police District (EPD) to ensure the safety of all passengers.

The NCRPO official also urged the public to report to the police any untoward incidents.

He said the public can report any untoward incidents or crimes through the PIO NCRPO Facebook Page@PIONCRPO2019; twitter@pioncrpo2019; and Isumbong Mo Sa Team NCRPO hotlines 0999-9018181 or 0915-888-8181.

Eleazar said the full alert status will remain in Metro Manila until all those who went out of the metropolis are back.

He reported that Metro Manila was “generally peaceful” during the entire Holy Week.

The police official credited the drop in crime incident to the deployment of 11,500 police officers and to public awareness.

He urged the public to cooperate and support the NCRPO’s anti-criminality endeavors for a peaceful and enjoyable summer vacation.
