Pagasa: 'Perla' remains almost stationary
TROPICAL Storm Perla remains almost stationary as it maintains its strength with maximum sustained winds of up to 65 kilometers per hour (kph) near its center and gusts of up to 80 kph, the state weather bureau said.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the center of Perla was last seen at 10 a.m. Friday, October 18, 790 kilometers east of Basco, Bat an es.
Pagasa said no tropical cyclone wind signal was raised over any part of the country, but occasional gusty conditions may prevail over extreme northern Luzon until early next week due to the prevailing northeasterly surface wind flow.
It added that the tropical storm is not forecast to cause significant high impact weather over the said region. But residents and disaster managers in extreme northern Luzon are still advised to continue monitoring for updates.
Pagasa said sea travel is risky, especially for small sea vessels over the seaboards of northern Luzon due to potentially rough sea conditions associated with the northeasterly surface wind flow.
Cloudy skies with light rains brought by the northeasterly surface wind flow will be experienced over Batanes and Cagayan.
Zamboanga Peninsula, Western Visayas, and Palawan will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms, while Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers brought by localized thunderstorms.
