Discipline versus Indiscipline
Mora S. Ramos
Discipline in the school setting is integral to the success of school functioning. How a school identifies good behavior and bad behavior has a tremendous impact on students’interaction with one another. For some, misbehavior is when students are not following the rules or instructions given to them. Teachers significantly appreciate that discipline is an integral element of human behavior and surmised that with no discipline, a school cannot function well towards the realization of the academic goals. In the area of an academic system, a disciplined pupils is that one whose behavior, ways and actions are based to the norms and standards of the school. In a context, discipline means more than following the rules and regulations, it is also concerns the pupils’ability to identify what is right or wrong.
On contrary, indiscipline is the lack of discipline. Hence, indiscipline can be viewed as an action described to be incorrect and not universally accepted in the norms of the society. Among students, it can be defined as any kind of misbehavior which pupils display in different ways such as disobedience, destruction of school property, reluctant to lean and being quarrelsome.
As educators, we need to impose a culture of discipline among our pupils and the love for learning.
