63 LGUs in Central Luzon pass 2019 Seal of Good Local Governance

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO— A total of 63 local government units (LGUs) in Central Luzon passed the 2019 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG).

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional Director Julie J. Daquioag disclosed that the Provincial Government awardees include Bataan, Bulacan and Tarlac.

City Government awardees, on the other hand, consists of Balanga, Meycauayan, San Jose del Monte, Munoz, Palayan, San Jose, Mabalacat, San Fernando and Tarlac.

Moreover, included in the list of Municipal Government awardees are Baler Dingalan and Maria Aurora in Aurora; Bagac, Dinalupiha­n, Hermosa, Orani, Pilar and Samal in Bataan; Angat, Balagtas, Baliwag, Bulakan, Guiguinto, Plaridel, Pulilan and Sta. Maria in Bulacan; and Bongabon, Cabiao, Cuyapo, Llanera, Nampicuan, Rizal, San Antonio, San Leonardo, Sta. Rosa, Talavera and Zaragoza in Nueva Ecija. Also, Apalit, Arayat, Bacolor, Floridabla­nca, Guagua, Lubao, Macabebe, Masantol, Mexico, Minalin, Porac, San Simon, and Sto. Tomas in Pampanga; Capas, Gerona, Moncada, Pura, San Clemente, Sta. Ignacia, Victoria and San Jose in Tarlac; and Botolan and San Antonio in Zambales.

“SGLG is a mechanism which aims to gauge the performanc­e of LGUs and thereafter provide incentives to the awardees through monetary grants,” Daquioag explained.

SGLG has seven areas for assessment namely Financial Administra­tion, Disaster Preparedne­ss, Social Protection, Peace and Order, Business Friendline­ss and Competitiv­eness, Environmen­tal Management, and Tourism, Culture and the Arts. LGUs must pass these seven areas for them to be worthy of the seal.— Carlo Lorenzo J. Datu/ PI A-3 duman being the major highlight. The food sold during the festival would include native pastry attraction­s of the town like sansrival, masa podridu, mamon and mamon tostado. Sta. Rita is known as a pastry town with a strong culinary tradition.

The festival has attracted a steady following of local and internatio­nal tourists. The Duman Festival is, arguably, the only festival of its kind that is held in the evening and features festive dining until the wee hours of the evening. The program for the event is expected to start at 5:00 p.m.
