OVER TECHNOLOGY

Nowadays, the spirit of technology, particularly, gadgets swallowed the life of the 21st century learners. These students focus more on their mobile devices especially at social media sites.

Teenagers tend to do (mostly) couch-potato activities and sometimes, they neglect their environment because they have their own world. In addition, they said that most of the teenagers consumed about 8 hours using their mobile devices. Upon waking up in the morning, the first thing that they will hold is their phone, and whenever they got home, again, phone is their priority.

Frankly, Generation Z or the new generation ignores our Earth these past few years. They prioritize other things than their place where they are living and also. They become materialistic. For an instance, a teenager bought bottled water, if she would not see a trash can, she will definitely throw the bottle anywhere she likes. That’s how careless the other teenagers are. They are more focused on using their gadgets for 8 hours than the environment.

On the other hand, Department of Education (DepEd) created a program that encourages schools to show their concern for the environment through eco-friendly projects. The most eco-friendly school will be awarded as the best school in the department. Thus, students from different schools must lessen their time in video games, social media sites, and on gadgets and take time to show their care to Mother Earth. They plant trees, clean their campus, do school services and more.

Truly, technology changed the way of living of every person in this world, especially students. Even their priorities changed as primitive turned into modernized world. Despite of all problems, students should not neglect our Mother Earth who still provides everything and instead of using their cellular phones they must care for our environment as much as they care fot their gadgets in simple ways.
