Research and its wonders
Princess T. Sangalang
Research has been viewed by almost students as an exhaustive and resourcedraining subject. This might be true because research, as a subject entails various tasks. But in reality, Research, as a subject has its own wonders.
It unleashes surfaced details.
Our diverse world has a lot to offer…and has a lot to cover. With the adversities that we have now, many can cover truths and present unreliable information. Yes, fake news as we call it. Through research, we can validate the readily available information.
It promotes the essential values for collaborative work.
As mentioned by Dr. David Resnik in his lecture, Research in general promotes trust, mutual respect, fairness and accountability. These values are essential in the holistic development of every student. These values as well are deemed important because these will help prepare the students in the real world.
It enhances communicative skills
Often, people viewed research as merely searching of facts, copying and pasting of details and proving theories. Research is more than this. Research enhances the macro and micro skills of an individual. It widens the vocabulary of a person, elevates the language capabilities and improves speaking skills as research also entails presentation.
It broadens the perspective of a person.
When we research, we also allow ourselves to understand deeply the culture, lifestyle, religion, and norms of a person, an organization and of a specific place. This claim will help us adopt to people in all walks of life and therefore, we can adopt to change that is the very sure thing that can last.
It brings positive societal change.
Cliché it may sound but indeed, nothing is permanent except change. Through research, we can instill positive change in our society. We can break the stigma about different illnesses, we can remove the misconceptions about things and we can innovate to progress our society.
Though we are in the modern era, Research will not be, and will never be obsolete. It is always amusing. It is the fashion that will never be outdated for it is always the best look for the one wearing it.
