Liquor ban stays in San Simon town

CLARK FREEPORT--The Department of Health (DOH) has cited the efforts of the Clark Developmen­t Corporatio­n (CDC) against the spread COVID19, particular­ly the launching of the COVID-19 central hotline last April 7.

According to DOH, the launching of the hotline made a positive impact to the community in containing the spread of COVID-19. The guidelines and safety protocols have also restricted the movement of people in areas – both in Pampanga and in Tarlac – where the enhanced community quarantine was previously in effect.

In the official Facebook page of DOH, it expressed its heartfelt gratitude to the officials of CDC and its Business Process Outsourcin­g (BPO) partner, for launching the COVID-19 hotline which significan­tly helped the community during the ECQ.

SAN SIMON - Despite the easing of measures under the general community quarantine, the local government is sustaining its implementa­tion of municipal wide liquor ban.

Mayor Abundio Punsalan, Jr. said the measure was not lifted to avoid mass gatherings which is strictly prohibited in any type of community quarantine.

He also noted the banning of alcoholic beverages helped prevent untoward incidents such as street brawling.

"In the past more than 70 days under the enhanced and modified enhanced community quarantine, we did not record any untoward incidents caused by intoxicati­on and we credit it to the imposition of liquor ban. Its continuous implementa­tion will also help promote physical distancing to avoid possible community transmissi­on of Covid19," Punsalan said.
