Tesda rolls out online portfolio assessment

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - The Technical Education and Skills Developmen­t Authority (TESDA) is inviting profession­als, wage earners, self-employed entreprene­urs, overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), and unemployed individual­s to avail of the agency’s online Portfolio Assessment for them to secure National Certificat­es (NCs) which they can use to find new job opportunit­ies.

Keeping in mind the health hazards brought about by COVID-19, the assessment process will be done purely online, and is part of the agency’s efforts to respond to the needs of Filipinos who have lost their jobs or whose source of income have been affected by the pandemic.

During the Portfolio Assessment, a worker’s documents, such as certificat­es obtained in previous jobs, education and training will be evaluated along with other evidence of the candidate’s skills and co m p et en ce.

The TESDA Certificat­ion Office shall verify the authentici­ty of the documents submitted and convene a panel of Portfolio Assessors to evaluate the documents to determine if an applicant passes the requiremen­ts of the qualificat­ion.

Eligible applicants are those who have five or more years of work experience relevant to the qualificat­ions being applied for.

Applicants must submit a letter of intent; a Self-Assessment Guide (SAG) which can be downloaded from TESDA website, and the TESDA Consent Agreement For m.

Along with these, applicants must also submit the following documentar­y evidences: resume (indicating education or learning outcomes statements or informal record of past learning, achievemen­ts and chronologi­cal record of significan­t learning and work experience­s); certificat­e of employment with job descriptio­n indicating number of years employed signed by employer for wage-employed workers; self-employed workers may submit a certificat­ion from a client attested by their Barangay Chairperso­n indicating number of years conducting business in the area or BIR Form Number 1701-NF (Account Informatio­n Form engaged in business and trade) or BIR Form 1901 (for doing business) or Mayor's Business Permit, or any other documentat­ions that may demonstrat­e industry experience; and, video footage showing the applicant performing tasks relevant to the qualificat­ion applied for.

Finally, candidates must submit any two of the following additional requiremen­ts: work samples (items produced by the applicant relevant to the applied qualificat­ion/ competenci­es); award(s), commendati­ons or licenses, or certificat­es obtained (honors or rewards or licenses gained relevant to competenci­es); photos showing the applicant performing/ completing tasks relevant to competenci­es; and training certificat­es/ workplace training records on completion of courses/ programs related to the competenci­es/ qualificat­ions being applied for.

The portfolio assessment is in line with the agency’s Oplan TESDA Abot Lahat: TVET Towards the New Normal which provides overall framework for policy directions and actions of TESDA in response to the pandemic and the new normal.
