Teaching: A vocation

Four years prior to becoming a teacher is the college life where everyone gets to decide what course will they take in order to achieve their dreams. One of these courses is a bachelor’s degree in education consisting of four years in college to master the skills needed to be able to teach in the future. A degree that is often misunderstood as “a course of better than nothing” because they think that teaching is just a piece of cake kind of job that does not require much time and effort. This kind of mindset has discouraged some of the students who plan to take education as a degree at the same being practical somehow partaken their decision-making and rather chose courses that offer higher salaries.

Teaching for most teachers is a mixture of patience, dedication and hardwork to deliver the best of their abilities and mold an innocent mind into someone he is meant to be. A profession that requires passion in action, as they move not for the financial rewards or incentives, rather, for the dreams their students chase through the years. Teachers are the people who will help in building a foundation that will serve as guidance for every student as they grow. They use their voices for us to see what the future holds and realize what we really want to achieve someday. The craving for knowledge is their challenge once they have entered a room full of curiosity and wonder. As they see their students pondering into the pool of questions in their minds, the more they are eager to light the bulb and make it shine brighter. As they oath, may the art of teaching outweigh all the textbooks, reading materials, and test papers as they face different stories written on the faces of the innocent, that knowledge and wisdom may grow in every hearts and minds of the youth so as to be an example for each learner that life is all about learning and teaching with empathy and compassion.
