Org Pack: An Alternative Solution to Eliminate Plastic Waste

Larry Mar B. Bautista

As of late, people and most food industries use non-biodegradable plastic, mostly are synthetic and can cause harm to the environment in many ways. The continuous use of plastic might result to clogging canals that results to flooding, addition of carbon footprints when burned that could harm the ozone layer which causes global warming, it also contributes to the infertility of the soil because it cannot be decomposed thus cause unhealthy growth of plants and trees that provides us fresh air.

The problem on the disposal of plastic waste became a major issue and problem not only in highly urbanized cities(HUCs) but also within the rural areas. Manufacturing and food industries are the main contributory to the problem.

The effort of government efforts, both the national and the local government unit to eliminate the use of plastic and use paper bags and other biodegradable packaging instead is not enough to solve the problem on the increasing amount of plastic waste.

A proposed Org Pack (Organic Packaging) might be an alternative solution to this problem. An Org Pack made from organic local materials, an upgraded version of the biodegradable packaging materials which are currently use in the market now. Some of these materials are currently out in the market like the edible straws and the like.

And because these org packs are made out entirely of organic materials it would decompose without a trace, it wouldn’t emit a foul smell because it wouldn’t stay at the dump site for long. This can contribute to economic growth and to the sustainability of the clean environment.

The government must find ways to develop more organic packaging that can lessen and eradicates in extent the the said issue of plastic waste disposal. The government must support the use of organic packaging. Food industries must shift to organics. Let’s promote a plastic free community!
