Pelco-3 celebrates first linemen appreciati­on Day

APALIT – The Pampanga III Electric Cooperativ­e (PELCO-3) recently joined the power sector in honoring the unsung heroes of their field during the first Linement Appreciati­on Day.

Dubbed as the "Warriors of Light," Pelco-3 recognized the roles of linemen in fulfilling the power sector's advocacy of improving the quality of life of its member-consumer-owners.

Partylist Representa­tives Presley C. De Jesus of Philippine Rural Electric Cooperativ­es Associatio­n Inc. (PhilRECA,) Sergio C. Dagooc of APEC, Godofredo N. Guya of RECOBODA, and Adriano A. Ebcas expressed their gratitude to the linemen via Facebook live for all their contributi­on and sacrifices in performing their duties as line workers.

In this time of pandemic, Pelco-3 Board of Directors President Jun Sigua said Pelco3 also ensures the safety of the linemen who brave the even the Covid-19 affected communitie­s to provide continuous electric supply to consumers.

He said Pelco-3 provides protective equipment such as masks and faceshield­s to linemen on field, and health standards such as minimum contact to residents is also advised to be observed.

During the celebratio­n, all line workers received certificat­es and tokens of appreciati­on for their contributi­ons and sacrifices in keeping the rural area's lights on despite natural and man-made calamities.

"Rain or shine and even during this pandemic, our linemen never wavered in providing service to our member-consumer-owners. Their continuous service has kept our houses and streets bright even at the darkest of night," Sigua said.

Sigua also disclosed that the celebratio­n is in line with House Bill No. 472 known as "An Act Proclaimin­g the First Monday of August of Every Year as Linemen Appreciati­on Day" filed by PhilRECA Partylist.
