Capitol receives hygiene kits from ‘thankful’returning OFW

-

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO– As gesture of gratitude for the efforts of the provincial government in bringing him home safe and free from coronavirous disease (COVID-19), a Kapampangan returning Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) donated hygiene kits.

Homer Navarro, an OFW from Saudi Arabia, personally handed over packs of donations as his way of giving back to Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda at the Capitol Building last Monday, August 3.

“We are very thankful to Governor Delta, because unlike in other provinces, we were able to get back home safely,” he said.

Navarro is one of the 246 ROFs served under the Balik Pinas, Balik Pampanga program, initiated by Governor Delta.

"They assisted us from the airport until we got home. We received proper accommodation, and all the staff of the Balik Pinas, Balik Pampanga program, including those in the New Clark City, are so nice, we really appreciate them,” Navarro said.

As of August 2 this year, 189 ROFs were already sent off, while 57 are still waiting for their swab test results.

Navarro also asked his fellow repatriates to be considerate and patient with the process of the program.

“Go and register. It might take time, but please, be patient. The government cannot do it all alone, it needs our help, and I think it is best for us to be part of the solution and not part of the problem,” he sai d.

Meanwhile, Governor Pineda said that the provincial government will always strive to prioritize

the needs of not only the Kapampangans residing in the province, but also those who have sacrificed working overseas.

“I am happy that they, themselves, are reaching out to help one another, especially during this time of crisis. As for our part, we will do all that we can to serve our beloved Cabalen," he said.

Balik Pinas, Balik Pampanga program was launched last June 29 to help decongest Metro Manila and make sure that Kapampangan ROFs will return home safely.
