Factors that Affect Students' Academic Performance: Pro's and Con's

The design of the assessment tool is one of the biggest factors that may affect the performance of every learner. The teacher as a classroom manager must be able to use the necessary assessment tool that best describe the academic performance of the students. But, the factors that affect students’ academic performance are not merely focused on the assessment tool itself. In real life classroom situation, there are these factors, the pro’s and con’s but not limited to the following:
Pro's
Every individual starts their education inside their homes. The family as basic unit of the society should be able to inculcate values among children at very young age. Proper rearing of children must be well done by the parents or guardians. This will surely help the children to understand basic knowledge on how important values in their personal growth. The family relationship has a great impact on the academic performance of the students and the peer-influence as well.
Learners usually need a proper motivation from their teachers to do their very best in order to perform well. Most of the time, the self-interests must start from themselves as learners. The learners’ goals will serve as a sense of direction in pursuing their studies. The learners should be able to understand the importance of developing a good study habits.
Con's
Family problems on the other hand, the emotional aspect of the learners will be affected once there is a misunderstanding or dispute inside their family. Most of the time, they are very fragile, they easily feel so sad and confuse. Their intellectual and mental capacity seems to be also affected as to their academic performance. The financial status of every family has also negative impact on the performance of the learners.
No matter how many factors that may affect the academic performance of the students, always be reminded of the importance of a good family relationship. This will lift up the moral of every learners to strive hard in pursuing their education and they will enable to do well in their academic performance.
