The Most Common Issues with Human Resource Management
Aryana Erika Aurelio
An organization's human resource management (HRM) plays a crucial role in its success. However, there are common issues that every HRM department has to overcome.
Some of these issues include recruitment and retention of talented employees, compensation, understanding benefits packages, hosting trainings, and leadership development.
The key for an organization's success is to hire and retain talented employees. However, it is not easy to see an employee's ability until they get hired. One of the best solution to this issue is to hire a third-party company that is expert in gauging an employee's abilities. When a talented employee is hired, the competition is fierce. A talented employee would only stay in the company if he/she is offered the right benefits. Thus, it is important to offer the best packages for an employee.
Compensation and benefits are both important for factors in retaining an employee. However, it is not easy for a company to offer hefty salaries especially if they have just started. Given that circumstance, creating a system to reward employees for excellent performance is one way to make up for a lower salary. Moreover, offering incentive programs such as profit sharing or bonuses can be a win-win solution for the employee and the company.
Aside from a rewarding compensation system, providing trainings to employees is important in keeping them loyal to the company. If you don't have the budget, there's no need to hire outside trainers. Senior managers can mentor their subordinates.
During these trainings, potential leaders are developed. Leadership development is critical in keeping a management team engaged and motivated, and prepares them to take on more responsibilities in the future. Accomplishing goals will motivate them and give them a chance to develop their skills.
There might be challenges to human resource management, but once surpassed can lead to a company's success.
