How LGUs are helping schools for ‘new normal’

AS THE Department of Education continues its various preparations for the opening ??of classes for School Year 2020-2021, local government units not just in Pampanga but in the rest of Central Luzon have pledged their support and commitment to ensure that education continues amidst the pandemic.
To support the Learning Continuity Plans of the 20 Schools Division Offices in the region, the total amount of resources generated reached P731 million. This shall complement the funds allocated by the DepEd Central Office for the opening of classes on August 24.
In view of this, the DepEd Regional Office is very grateful for the support of all the stakeholders. Like the motto says, “It takes a whole village to raise a child.”
Our congressmen/women, governors, mayors, and barangay captains have shown support to the public schools and the programs, projects, and activities of the DepEd RO3.
Majority of the pledges will be utilized for the printing of the Self-Learning Modules or SLMs such as provision of risograph machines, printers, bond papers, and ink.
A number of LGUs, meanwhile, will also be providing financial assistance for other learning modalities such as online learning, TV and radio-based instruction. These will include the funds to cover airtime, internet connectivity, WiFi transmitters, laptops, computers, flash drives, and television sets.
Other LGUs on the other hand will also be providing personal protective equipment (PPEs), masks and face shields, flu vaccines for the teachers, and disinfecting equipment for schools.
