Extending The Experience of Learning Opportunities Using Modular Instruction
Sheryl Ann S. Fulong
There are several approaches to be used in education. Any of them include project method, exploration method, lecture method, discussion method, programmed learning, research method, field trip, case study method, presentation method, and interactive instruction. Modular instruction is a recent concept in classroom environments, and a lot of attention has now been extended to the experience of learning opportunities. The module take-up process has become a piece of all levels of instructions. Teaching through the module is a self-assessment of a single subject/unit in the package. It should be used in any environment that is useful to the learner and can be completed at the learner's own pace.
Another type of individual instructions used is the use of self-learning modules in teaching. This is considered a modular approach to teaching and studying because self-learning modules are accessible on a variety of subjects that can be offered to students as homework for self-learning. The concept of a "module" is directly related to the concept of a dynamic program. The module is a particular task in a course of instruction that is essentially self-contained and an instructional approach that is based on the idea of building skills and expertise discreetly. The module is a series of learning experiences structured around a well-defined subject that involves elements of synchronized dictation, categorical goals, cognition-building exercises, and criterion-based assessment.
Varieties of instructional approaches that rely on the accumulation of methods that can better achieve an innovative and productive interaction in learning experiences that contributes to comprehension. Also, quite well-designed modules with very well-defined student learning will fail if the edification techniques used are unwelcome to inspire and enable learners to attain the required learning outcomes.
Modular teaching is among the most common and recognizes teaching methods in many nations, including other Western countries and the Asian region. It considers the variations between the learners that need preparation for the implementation of the most suitable teaching strategies to help the individual grow and evolve at his/ her own pace.
