130 graduates get diplomas from San Fernando city college
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO---Some 130 students from the City College of San Fernando on Friday, August 26, 2022, were conferred their baccalaureate degrees along with their diplomas in graduation rites at Heroes Hall.
City Mayor Vilma Caluag and College Administrator and President Atty. Gloria Victoria-Bañas led the conferment of diplomas to the graduates who finished their courses under Accounting Information System, Information Technology, Business Administration, and Elementary and Secondary Education.
Four of the ghraduatesc were named as academic awardees while others were recognized for displaying outstanding performance in diverse fields including research, thesis writing, feasibility study, and internship, among others.
Caluag said that aside from their diplomas, graduates should carry with themselves the courage and perseverance to fulfill their aspirations and dream careers.
The 2022 commencement exercises comes after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic and marks the city college’s eighth commencement exercises since its establishment in 2009.
Earlier, Caluag stressed that she wants the City College of San Fernando to be "inclusive" so that more Fernandino students could get quality education and secure a good future.
The lady mayor said that a more inclusive policy in the selection of scholars should allow even average Fernandino students to avail of free tertiary education.
"Let's amend the process so that not only those with high grades and scholastic performance could get into the City College, but those who are willing and industrious to study could avail of free education and thus achieve their dreams," she said.
"I would not want us in the city government to put an end to their dream of a bright future,” she added.
