POTENTIAL AND MOTIVATION

LYN D. DEANG

Schools are safe places where everyone’s independence is valued. Same with educators, learners thrive when they are supported in terms of boosting their creativity – and when this happens, they become true to themselves and work towards their potential. Educators face the challenge of interacting with different kinds of students in different situations. In order to overcome this, they should know how to balance fairness for all learners and should care for each one. Teachers, in caring for all learners, must balance the needs of one with the equal treatment of all. They must act ethically towards all in their learning community, not just for the learners they teach. One must be careful that he does not harm others to benefit his own friends, family, or students. This is where educators should develop their sense of ethical justice and capacity for kindness. Educators must also remain current in one’s educational research. They should strive for updated knowledge regarding educational research so that they can be prepared for the difficult decisions they will make on behalf of the school. Remember, a leader who makes decisions based on outdated information is unethical because he is risking the well-being of those he serves. Educators should also provide learners the resources they need to learn. Parents are now treated as partners in their children’s education, especially because of what happened in the pandemic. Healthy working relationships contribute to the creation of a healthy environment for learning.
