A COMMON GOAL
ALMA T. DIAZ
Education begins at home, where a mother acts as the teacher of a child. Whatever a child does, parents are there to guide especially the values that must be adopted. At school teachers serve as the second parents of a child. They are expected to provide the education that is best for a learner. They supplement what is needed to a child. In the 21st century , teachers play an important role for the development of a learner – Facilitators. This means that they are the ones who guide a learner. Facilitators allow learners to explore by themselves. This can help a learner develop independent skills that enable them solve problems in their own and enhance their critical thinking ability.
Furthermore, parents’ and teachers’ hands are the two essential ingredients for the development of a child. Though teachers are anticipated to provide learning at school, parents are demanded to give hand for their child at home. They should be aware that follow-up procedures done at home are effective to facilitate learning. Follow-up procedaures are done by practicing and assessing a child of how well he/she was able to understand each lesson at school. This is also done by reviewing the lessons and checking the activities made at school by the learner. By doing so, a child can easily adjust for the lessons and won’t take too long for him/her to understand the next lesson. It is also useful for a teacher that he might be able to learn of what are the strengths and weaknesses of a child. Parents and teachers are expected to play their roles as best contributors to achieve a common goal- a child learning development.
