7he 'epartment of (ducation is eyeing to advance more topics on inclusivity and global citi]enship in the intended curriculum for basic education $ccording to 81(6&2 global citi]enship education *&(' aims to eTuip learners of all ages Zith those values NnoZledge and sNills that are based on and instill respect for human rights social Mustice diversity gender eTuality and environmental sustainability and that empoZers learners to be responsible global citi]ens 7he Philippine %asic (ducation has gone Tuite far in terms of advocating *&(' in the curriculum being able to establish the structural mechanisms and support relative to the *&(' at various governance levels 7he 'ep(d through the %ureau of &urriculum 'evelopment is committed to advancing the courses of *&(' in the intended curriculum though much is needed to be done $s such the 'epartment may be challenged to push all the boundaries that limit optimi]ing the premises and possibilities of *&(' 'ep(d through the ,nternational &ooperation 2ffice ,&2 has been in touch Zith different organi]ations from different parts of the Zorld to taNe note of their best practices their initiatives and proMects that Zill help in the integration of gender sensitivity and responsiveness cultural appreciation and inclusivity to the 'ep(d curriculum 7he curriculum must evolve to focus on cultivating values and integrating concepts of global citi]enship to help learners develop into responsive and empoZered individuals capable of building and rebuilding peaceful communities in their respective places
