ENVIRONMENTAL NOURISHMENT: SUSTAINING OUR LIFE

“Taking care of the environment is not an obligation- our environment is our life” (Sadhgaku). This statement made me realize how vital the sustainability of the environment is. As a “Youth for Environment in School’s Organization (YES-O) adviser and Cluster Coordinator, it is my advocacy to educate our learners about different environmental issues and infuse to their minds on how to mitigate their destructive effects. Also, to update, remind and equipped our co-advisers within the cluster on the various mandated programs and activities of the organization. We experience nowadays the effects of the negligence when it comes to developing and sustaining our natural resources, our environment. Different strong typhoons, extreme hotness of weather (global warming), drought, floods are some effects of climate change. When is the right time of converting our awareness into action? We are all aware of the present situation of the environment. How can we contribute in sustaining our life? We are the stewards of this planet. Let us start refreshing our minds and hearts towards environmental nourishment. YES-O adhered to orders and memorandum such as D.O. No. 93,s.2011, OUA memo 00-1021-0204, RM 536 s. 2021, which stated the different mandated programs and activities that any organization may conduct and collaborate. These are the greening programs or planting activities, seed bank and nursery establishment. Planting, growing, caring of trees and mangroves, conservation of water, power and resources, clean-up drives and ecological solid waste management are embedded in the organizational plans. These activities should be practiced not only in school but in every home of the community so as to ensure the sustainability of the environment. Because nourishing the environment is sustaining our life.
