The Department of Education recognized the importance of the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic to an individual’s mental health. DepEd launched a series of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Services (MPHSS) to all DepEd people to lessen the adverse effects on one’s mental health. This advocacy looks for one’s mental health during the current public health situation. The agency highlighted the importance of providing emotional support to teachers and learners in these trying times where uncertainties may undermine a person’s mental health. Educators need to recognize the impacts of mental health to student’s learning and achievement. As a help to learners and personnel, the agency utilizes training and activities to both teacher and learner to cope with the current situation. The activity aims to provide them with the chance to cope with the anxiety and depression brought by the deadly disease. It is incredibly important to raise awareness among young students who suffer seriously from mental health issues today. There is a need to guide them through the process of dealing with their inner issues and concerns. Schools need to work and initiate changes for students as well as for personnel. When they establish rapport in dealing with mental health issues, it can further develop strength and inner peace in the minds and hearts for teachers and students. Mental health awareness is the ongoing efforts to reduce the stigma around mental conditions by sharing our firsthand experiences. Raising awareness especially when COVID-19 struck the Philippines has significant role in the lives of individuals especially in the education sector. Mental health education needs to shine a light including the concept of self-care and responsibility for one’s mental health and wellness. Since health is an integral part of one’s body and mind. It influences one’s decision making and how to deal with stress in their lives. That is why we must care for our mental health and for our social wellbeing. Indeed, mental health is equally important to one’s physical health. Educating them will ensure a happier and healthier relationship in school. It builds long-lasting effects as well as good relationships between the teacher and student rapport as part of the education system.
