TRAINING TEACHERS FOR MATATAG CURRICULUM JEAN DULATRE MIRO
The Department of Education (DepEd) has issued a memorandum on Dec, 20, 2023 seeking to train teachers and school leaders in preparation for the first phase of the MATATAG curriculum’s implementation next school year.
The series of trainings will begin from Jan. 22 to April 4.
The trainings, officials said, would ensure that teachers and school leaders have a deeper understanding of the revised MATATAG curriculum for kindergarten, Grades 1, 4 and 7.
It specifically aims to equip teachers and school leaders with the necessary knowledge, skills, and competencies to effectively implement the new curriculum in the coming school year.
Under the memorandum, a quality assurance and finalization of the curriculum training resource package will be done from Jan. 8 to 19, according to the DepEd.
This will ensure that all teachers concerned would be able to attend the training. Meanwhile, school heads have been advised to maximize the load of those from other grade levels who would not be participating in the training.
There will be preparation work from Jan. 22 to Jan. 26 for lead trainers, including directors of the National Educators Academy of the Philippines, chiefs and training specialists.
Teachers from kindergarten, Grades 1, 4, and 7 will start a one-month school-based training on the new curriculum on March 4, with the training to be implemented at the national, regional and division levels in the next weeks.
Anhalf-day training for Kindergarten, Grades 1, 4, and 7 teachers totaling 40 hours can also be scheduled to avoid disrupting regular classes.
