HOW TO TEACH MATH EFFECTIVELY
BRYAN D. PENA
As we all know that Mathematics is used in our everyday life, from the time we move out of the bed until the time that we close our eyes and say goodnight. When we buy something, ride in a bicycle, or any kinds of vehicles as a means of transportation, compute our word problems and more. Everybody use mathematics in every field and every aspect of life. Mathematics has a big contribution in our everyday life.
Students learn mathematics through the experiences that the teachers provide. Selecting and using suitable curricular materials, using appropriate instructional tools and techniques to support learning and pursuing self-improvement. Teachers need to increased knowledge about mathematics and pedagogy, learn from their colleagues and engage in professional development. Collaborating with others. Teachers develop the learners appreciation of the subject and impart to pupils that mathematics is not difficult “MIND”. It must be fun and exciting. Learning activities are be done by manipulations of objects like marbles, pebbles, sticks, straws, shapes, rubber bands, and other things that can be simplify and concretely explain mathematical principles. Activities should be done outside the classroom and let the pupils experience and apply the lesson like allowing the pupils to measure the inside and outside the classroom that will make the learners realize that it is worth learning and it is enjoyable. Cooperative learning will develop critical analysis of each individual.
Use concrete or real objects in teaching mathematics, colorful devices, and motivate pupils in different mathematics song which will not only relieved the pupils from boredom of the usual classroom setting, but will also enhance both the intellectual skills regarding the subject. Trial and error can’t be avoided and for me I love teaching mathematics till the end. Enjoy mathematics as we learned from it.
