TEACHER NEEDS TEACHER
MICHELLE R. MAGLAQUI
Teaching is a demanding profession. It requires a continuous growth and development. From managing a classroom, creating effective lesson plans, and providing the needs of diverse learners are just a few of the struggles that teachers faced everyday.
The concept of “teacher needs teachers” is basically a call to have a strong supportive community of teachers which emphasizes the importance of collaboration, mentorship, and professional development. Teachers, just like their students, they rely on support and guidance of others to succeed in their professional journeys. Teaching profession where the demand of work is high, teachers benefit from sharing strategies and best practices. In this way, collaboration among teachers is essential because through this, teachers learn, adapt, and address challenges in education. With this community where collaboration exists, challenges can easily be addressed, managed, and work through. It can also create a community of teachers where it recognizes small successes as a group, raising the overall quality of education.
Mentorship on the other hand, provides guidance to the less-experienced teachers. It is another important part of a strong supportive community of teachers where experienced teachers can share practical knowledge in the field, offer counsel, and invaluable insights. Also, mentorship creates a more empowered teaching community and builds confidence in the group.
To improve the educational system as a whole, professional development is needed. Trainings, seminars, and workshops give teachers the skills to expand and discover new knowledge. Providing professional development opportunities is important in creating effective and high-quality standard of teaching that would benefit both teachers and the learners.
“Teacher needs teachers” emphasizes the value of partnership, coaching, and professional enhancement among teachers. Teachers are not and should not be alone in their professional journeys, instead, they should be a part of a larger community where they can be empowered and uplifted. Through collaboration, mentoring, and professional development, teachers can be equipped to excel, benefiting not only them but also their students which eventually leads to an improved outcome and a stronger educational system.
