IMPORTANCE OF LEARNERS’ BEHAVIOR IN THE LEARNING PROCESS
WILFREDO F. MANANSALA
Managing learners’ behavior today is one of the challenging tasks of a teacher. Imposing the right discipline on children needs consistency to establish higher learning outcomes. These actions enable them to access learning and interact with others productively in the community.
It is necessary that the teacher has enough background in how to control those timely and relevant circumstances happening in the teaching-learning process and even outside the classroom instructions.
Students’ behavior inside the classroom can be in the form of the following nature such as biological reasons, being hungry or overtired, family problem or lack of attention. It can be communication issues or concerns which include emotional responses. Other factors may be the environment or the surroundings where he belongs.
As a teacher and a second parent to the children in school. You need to have strategies on how to cope with the problems and attitudes towards class instructions. These can be in the form of reward or praise, let them hear what they say, listen for their explanations and side, stay calm in dealing with them, establish boundaries and try to understand the cause of the behavior.
Be responsive to the kind of behavior they have. Naturally, learners’ response can be positive or negative depending on the concerns and issue.
As we instruct the children with the acquired knowledge and skills, develop, and strengthen the pupil’s behavior especially in their learning to become motivated, inspired, and succeed in their education.
Positive behavior for learning results in the engagement of students, good academic progress, and good relationships with peers. It is important to sustain an orderly learning environment for learners to further meet the academic skills and competencies as well as the social and emotional growth of a child.
If teachers have knowledge in understanding the behavior of learners, it will be easier to deal with the learning development of a child academically and emotionally. We can also alleviate the learning curve by providing excellent quality education that they need to further gain better life experiences in the future by having good and positive behavior towards others.
