THE IMPACT OF INSTRUCTIONAL MULTIMEDIA ON LEARNING
ERICA JEAN N. MARASIGAN
Multimedia instruction has become a disruptive force in education in the digital age, changing the way that traditional teaching approaches are taught.
Using multimedia in instruction enhances the engagement and interest of students. It engages students by using their senses. Compared to traditional approaches, the use of visuals, films, and interactive features creates a dynamic learning environment that fosters increased interest and engagement.
Multimedia aids memory retention. The combination of visuals and narration enhances information processing, leading to improved retention of complex concepts. Reinforcing content through different modalities strengthens the learning experience.
Using multimedia, teachers can demonstrate how theoretical concepts are used in the actual world. This helps students realize the significance of what they are studying by bridging the gap between academic knowledge and practical comprehension. Multimedia components that are interactive, such games or simulations, encourage students to learn actively. By actively engaging in the learning process, students strengthen their comprehension and improve the efficiency with which teachers evaluate knowledge.
While instructional multimedia offers numerous benefits, its successful implementation requires careful consideration. Educators should align multimedia content with learning objectives, ensure accessibility for all students, and avoid overloading with excessive stimuli.
