RECLAIMING OUR TIME: THE MOVEMENT TO FREE PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS FROM ADMINISTRATIVE BURDENS

- MICHELLE GUIAO COSIO

Public school teachers play a crucial role in shaping the future of our society. They are responsible for imparting knowledge, developing skills, and instilling values in the young minds of our nation. However, in recent years, the administrative tasks assigned to them have increased tremendously, taking away from their primary role as educators. The removal of administrative tasks from the responsibilities of public school teachers is a necessary step towards improving the quality of education.

Some of the administrative tasks assigned to teachers include maintaining records, attending meetings and workshops, and filling out paperwork. These tasks are time-consuming and take away from the time that could be spent on lesson planning, engaging with students, and providing individualized attention to those who need it.

The burden of administrative tasks not only affects the quality of education but also takes a toll on the mental and physical health of teachers. The constant pressure to meet deadlines, the stress of managing a large workload, and the lack of work-life balance have resulted in high levels of burnout among teachers. This not only affects their well-being but also has a negative impact on their effectiveness as educators.

To address these issues, many education experts have called for the removal of administrative tasks from the responsibilities of public school teachers. This would allow them to focus on their primary role of teaching and nurturing students. By reducing the amount of time spent on administrative tasks, teachers can plan engaging lessons, provide personalized attention to students, and foster a more positive learning environment.

However, more needs to be done to completely remove administrative tasks from the shoulders of public school teachers. This requires a collaborative effort from school administrations, policymakers, and the government. Schools need to provide adequate resources and support to teachers, such as administrative staff and training in technology, to help them manage their workload effectively.

In conclusion, the removal of administrative tasks of public school teachers is crucial for the betterment of the education system. It will not only improve the quality of education but also create a more balanced and sustainable work environment for teachers. It is time for all stakeholders to come together and take action towards this goal, for the benefit of our students and the future of our society.
